Nissan: 87 Stanza GXE question (tranny)

My dad has a 87 Stanza GXE sitting in his yard, been there for a coule of
years now. He only wants $50 for it... it ran when he parked it. It's rough
around the edges, but figured for 50 bucks I couldn;t go wrong. It has an
automatic transmission in it right now. My question is has anyone ever
converted one of these to a manual? Is it a pretty easy swap? He also
mentioned that someone had crossthreaded one of the spark plugs. Can I just
drop in a heli-coil? How hard is it to find parts for this car? Any help is
appreciated. Thanks for reading!

If you're good at that sort of thing. Most home mechanic "rethread" jobs
I've seen ended up ruining whatever they were trying to retread. It sounds
really easy till you try to do it!
