85 318i clutch master cylinder limits upward pedal travel?
Hi,
Anyone install a clutch master cylinder lately? I did. Now, when I
take my foot off the pedal, the spring pulls it back up until it hits
the push button for the cruise control. Bending this bracket is how I
adjust the travel. Isn't the push rod supposed to keep the pedal from
going too far up? If so, I think mine may be defective. Unfortunately
I tossed my old one when I finished the job :-(
Anyone ever taken one apart? Is this fixable?

Ask the guys in the E30 M10 group - they may know.

If I recall correctly, the bolt going through the master cylinder
pushrod is eccentric and can be rotated to correctly position the clutch
pedal. When you get it where you want by turning the large end of the bolt,
you hold it in that position while tightening the smaller nut. Hope that
helps.

Thanks all for the help. Mine must have been assembled incorrectly, as
the push rod is not attached. I see now they are rebuildable, and
AutoZone has a kit for $16, so that's encouraging.
