    84 GW Dash Panel

Does anyone know of a source of the instrument cluster dash panel and heater
    controls for a '84 GW?

Would a Jeep dealer be able to get this part?

My dealer couldn't get one for my '77 Cherokee Chief when I thought I
needed one (didn't, it turned out). If it's the same one, it's a
salvage yard item. Try Clements Auto Salvage, Branson, MO, at
1-800-225-5430. Good people, excellent reputation, and they have a
LOT of Jeep parts. There is a similar one in Oklahoma, but I don't
know their name or anything else about them (but would like to).

Now, I need a constant voltage regulator for my instrument panel (I
think-may be a bad connection). It's separate from the temperature
gauge, despite the picture in the service manual.

Thanks, I will get in touch with the yard in MO, and try to find contact
info for the one in OK, and will pass along.

Do you know much about the mysterious workings behind the instrument panel?
    I don't.

I had a small electrical fire that immolated the heater controls and the
facia of the panel on the left side. Worse, all instruments are out, and, in
a possibly related or unrelated matter, the window switches, except for the
    rear window, are out.

    I would appreciate that.

No doubt, you have some fried wires behind the panel. A service
manual from a parts store should be very helpful. You can splice in
new wires to replace burned ones, but the best course would be a new
dash wiring harness (salvage yard will have that, too) if you have
extensive damage. The instruments themselves may also be burned,
and/or the printed circuit board that they are mounted on.

Thanks for the advice. In light of your recommendation, I was able to buy a
complete dash wiring harness on eBay, as well as a new heater control box
    and instrument cluster.

Assuming that I can get all that installed correctly, I should have a good
    restoration.

Many thanks again for the help.
