    '69 Coil Spring Measurement Instructions

Joe M. was good enough to indicate how to determine if the front coil
spring of my '69 vette is sagging. The instructions are found on page
3-7 of the Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual if you have one.

My problem is that I'm not sure I understand the instructions. The
instructions contain the following phrase: "Measure the distance from
the floor to the lower face of the lower steering knuckle boss for the
spherical joint ..." Does this mean that I should measure the distance
from the floor to the lower part of the face of the steering knuckle
which is attached to the lower control arm by a long bolt? (The steering
knuckle is shown on page 3-4 of the manual.)

    Thanks,
    Charles

I have the 1968 service manual. Figure 8 on page 3-6 shows where to measure.
Does your '69 manual not have this figure?... I can scan and email it to you
    if not.

    Joe,

I have the figure. I just want to make sure that my description below is what
they are describing. We are only talking about two to three inches. Therefore, I
want to be sure. So, do my words, below, describe what's shown in Fig 8 for the
measurement closest to the wheel? And are my words, below, the same as the
    manual's words, shown below?

    Joe,

Thanks for your help on this.

By the way, I did not find any "riding height" specifications for the rear.
Although, I could have missed them. Did you see any "riding height" specs for
the rear suspension of the vette?
