    2004 LE Corolla

Any opinions? How is the road noise at high speeds?

Not to worry, you can't get to high speeds in a Corolla

If it was a Ford , you have bigger problems than road noise, mainly
fires from fuel tanks, electric ignition switches catching on fire after
you left the vehicle, you could lose a house when the car catches if its
in the garage, then the Ford Exploder rollover, maybe road noise on your
roof would be a bigger concern. That is, if the transmission is any
good, if you've got 60K, its due on the major service. But if it doesn't
move, then there will be no road noise I guess????

    I've got a 2003 Euro-spec with a 3ZZ-FE VVT-i engine - I drive between 160
    and 180 km/h almostevery day ( if there's no traffic )
A month back I did a long trip and got it up to an indicated 205 ( the true
    top speed is about 195 km/h )
Not bad for a 1600cc saloon.....

I have the 2003 Corolla LE and its rather quiet at 65 but a touch
    more noise at 70. I seldom go over 70. I prefer 2000 to 2300 rpm's,
    just ask Philip.

The car is rather quite on a smooth hiway and the radio level is set
to about normal. I do have to turn it up at time when the wife is
telling me how to drive. You know, truck, train, cop, stop sign,
speed or school zone etc. Sounds like a damn recorder sitting next to
    me.

Ever think of a dealer test drive to at hiway speeds then try a rough
textured road. If you live in a large city test drive two or three
dealers cars. Rent one for a day or so from Avis or other rental
    agency.

Well I have to say that my Corolla reaches any legal speed and beyond
with relative ease. If I am not careful on the freeway I can easily
find myself over the posted 110 km/hour limit by 20 klicks and it's a
nine year old car with 200,000 klicks on it.

This was equally true of the all-trac wagon with it's 1600cc engine.

At 110 klicks in 5th gear it still has 3000rpm in hand before the red
    line.

Once again the Ford sycophant hasn't any idea what he is talking
    about.

CAS has received many complaints from consumers concerning peeling paint, ignition switch fires,
stalling and brake, transmission and head gasket failures. Ford should drop "star" from Aerostar
and Windstar because neither is a star when it comes to quality."

I suppose, if one considers 75 MPH high speed.

LOL, yeah Philip cruises his in excess of 100 MPH all the time. I cant
tell you Mike, the Corolla can do 75 with ease and plenty of rpm left.
In fact, they start cruising nice at about 85. heck, I took my new
Tacoma through Montana in the last year there was no actual speed limit
during the day and it cruised 90 mph for miles with ease. Oh, that was
in the Rockies too, you know, real mountains!

    I've run my '92 Corolla at a steady 100mph indicated. That, I
    consider pretty hight speed...

Of course that was the slowest I drove my BMW back when I lived in
Spain, but that is another animal...lol
