2002 Sentra GXE smells of burning oil?
Took car in to dealer for a oil change on Monday, and when I got home could smell burning oil. Called dealer and service person said that they probably spilled some oil and to give it about 3 days and it should go away. 70 miles and 5 days later it still smells but only inside the car when the heater is on and mostly when stopped for light and when destination is reached. I checked filter, drain plug, and engine for signs of oil, but see nothing. Yesterday afternoon it was warm enough for A/C and I did not notice smell, but this AM with heater on low the odor of oil was there when I got to work. Any suggestions? Thanks, Marv

Look for oil puddles on any frame members or engine parts that can drip onto

2001 Sentra GXE - Stinks for weeks after an oil change. Exhaust pipe is
directly under the oil filter, impossible not to spill on it. The
ventilation air intake is down there somewhere, instead of where it should
be (at the base of the windshield).

I concur with Pete. The oil runs down the exhaust pipe and pools under the
catalytic converter on the heat shield where it boils away for a couple of
weeks. I have managed to overcome the problem by draping the pipe with a
plastic bag prior to unscrewing the filter. Messy but efective.

Geez Don, you've embarrassed me! I have changed it myself a half-dozen
times, and only after replying to Marv's post did the thought occur to try
something like this. Duh!

Thanks, Don and Pete, at lease I now that my problem is not unique. Yes, it really stinks. I will tell the service manager about the fix, but doubt that he will listen.
