2002 Bose 6-CD Stereo: Can it be made to accept LINE-IN for mp3 player?
Before I assume the answer to be NO I wanted to ask here.
My 2002 GLE has the double-DIN sized 6-CD AM/FM/Cassette head.
Does anyone know if there's a way to plug a line-level input into this
thing, even if some hacking is required?
Thanks

I found this webpage with a gadget that is compatible with many cars,
including the Maxima. It appears that a head unit with support for
external changer is the typical way to hook it up, but the website
almost suggests that it'll work with Bose's integral 6 CD-changer.

If this works it will be great for Maxima owners, as the steering
wheel controls will work with your MP3 player (at least the iPod).
I am still thinking there is no way to connect to the Bose.. I left an
email but it looks like a home-grown business so I don't know what
kind of answer I'll get.
Has anyone had a look at the 2002-2003 Bose 6-CD changer from behind?
Are there any connectors other than power, speakers, steering-wheel
controls and antenna???
Thanks again.

OK, I know I should be waiting for an answer from the above company,
but still figure you guys know a lot more about Maximas than they do.
This FAQ from their site says you can connect their thing to a head
unit with integrated CD player (see the very last sentence). I still
don't see how.
- PROBLEM
- Can I keep my CD changer and have both the ICE-Link
- and the changer connected to my car?
-
- SOLUTION
- No, unfortunately you have to disconnect the original CD
- changer from your car, because the ICE-Link is using the
- same cables to make the connection between the iPod
- and your radio. However, if you have an in-dash CD player
- in your radio, that will still work on your stereo.

The overwhelming opinion on maxima.org is NO. I ended up swapping out the 6
disc Bose in my '03 with an Eclipse HU. The sound is MUCH better, I have
sat radio hooked up to the AUX in and don't miss the changer at all.

Thanks Rich..
I have arrived at this conclusion also, after an exhaustive web
search.. stupid me never thought to check maxima.org though.
Looks like I'll be sticking with the cassette adapter after all
