2000 Grand Prix GTP dealer mishap? (funny)

One of the three illumination bulbs burned out behind the D.I.C. (driver
information center) one dealer told me it's a sealed unit and that I would
have to buy a new one for some outragous price of $900 and some dollars. I
went to another dealer, they told me they can get me the circuit board with
the bulbs, but not just the bulbs for $300 and some odd dollars???? I went
to dealer number three, and two service guys could not find the right bulb,
they called two other dealerships on the phone and still, no one knew how to
get the bulb, or even if It was replaceble???...Their advice to me was "just
live with half of the D.I.C. no working"... Finally I gave up and went to a
little no-name auto part store where some older ladie was working the
counter, I showed her the bulb..told her my story, and she asked how many I
wanted. They were 25 cents a piece she had over a hundred in stock and knew
the part number off the top of her head???? I told her to go get a job at
    GM!
Thanks GM for training your part dept. guys so well!
Here is the info incase someone has had this problem: Wagner bulb part#PC74
    14V miniaturelamp.
My trunk light just went out, I guess GM will tell me I have to buy a new
    trunk??? LOL

Idiot! You can't buy just a trunk -- you'll need a whole new car (GM, of
    course)

    Yeah, that's something isn't it? I agree, there's a lot of technical
incompetence at these gm dealerships today. Then, to think that five
dealerships couldn't come up with the resources that the old lady did to get
the correct replacement bulb is sad. Thanks for the info.

I have a 2001 GP GTP.. I had a bulb burn out on my D.I.C. my dealership
replaced the entire DIC .. under warrenty..the strange thing is.. before I
had the DIC replaced my speedometer and the HUD did not give the same mph...
ie.. HUD = 20mph... speedometer = 15 mph.... now after they replaced the
DIC.. the HUD and the speedometer have matching mph exactly.. I found this
    interesting..

Yikes, mine is off by like 1 mph (If spedo says 60, HUD says 59) or so.
I wonder if there is an adjustment. That has always bugged me.
