VW claims a quart every 1k miles is "normal".
yours burns a quart every 2500, and it has almost 80k miles on it. nothing
to be real happy about, but nothing to shun toyotas forever about either.
check the plugs. check the PCV as well, if it has one.
then
welcome.
with 80k miles on it? youre out of luck.
if everything checks out ok, id switch to mobil1 and give it a shot.

Weight: 5W30
Habits: variety - some weeks for use by spouse for errands - some weeks
spouse drives me to work and sons to college in same trip - plus the return
journey - some weekends we have day trips to Banff area (about 150 km's from
Calgary).

Thanks,

What? You've only got 75,000 miles! You haven't been changing your oil
according to the Owner's Manual, have you?
Our old MR2 had 148,500 miles when we sold it. It got easily much more than
that out of a quart.

Bill, did you ever heat it up pretty good? The amount consumed is
considered in specs though.

Well, I'd almost bet you vote democrat, I'm just suprised you didnt
manage to get the Halliburton in there, maybe "Big Oil" likes the oil

Re: 2000 Corolla LE Oil Consumption
I have maintained this vehicle by the book. Oil changes every 8000 km's.
All other recommended maintenance according to the manufacturers' spec's.

I wonder if there is a correlation of these higher oil consumption
cars with having had a very light (egg on the gas pedal) break-in?
Hmmm.
