Around 8/13/2003 8:58 PM, Rodney & Julia Brown spake thusly:

    Swap in a turbo 2.3L from a SVO or a T-bird TC?

Also note that just putting on the turbo an electronics will not make any
new friends with your weak cast internals. It's best to get the whole block
and assembly or have your 2.3L rebuilt. Can always stroke it to 2.5L, cam
it up, put a performance header on it, and throw a turbo on it. Be
    different. ;-)

Don't waist your money...sell it and get a GT...

    2 cents.

    Listen to Garth and JS...

Or you can go the 5.0 route... but then like Jim said, you're NEVER gonna
have enough. You'll have just another 5.0 that someone somewhere has gotten
more out of than you can.

The satisfaction of getting more from less is pretty nice.

If you want to know what is EASILY possible (though I suggest whole swap of
complete powertrin), look around locally for an 85 1/2 or 86 SVO for sale...
    drive it.

And the 2.3 is NOT unreliable... even with an 80 hp boost.

Yes, the 2.3 is a very sturdy platform.

Unfortunately, along with the satisfaction of getting more from less is the
invoice that comes from getting more for less. For many years I was a small
block guy (good idea if you do a lot of corners) but it doesn't cost any
more to build a big block and the horsepressure is fantastic.

I keep saying it... plan your "package" well. If you are after an audiophile
music system, y6ou don't build around a Lloyds tapedeck. Similarly, the only
reason I can see for modding the dickens out of small inches is if we have
some rule constraints. If the sky is the limit, brute torque will always be
our best friend. A one atmosphere boost on a 140 inch four banger is
nifty....... a one atmosphere boost on a 500 inch stomper is something I
    want to try.
