1990 Mits Van Radiator, repair or replace?

Orig radiator in a 1990 van is pretty clogged up. Normally I'd replace
it, but that costs about $450, and the van is pretty old (tho in good
shape). Any chance that radiator cleaning fluid will get the crud out?
Or am I just kidding myself? I seem to remember that that cleaning
stuff can finish off old radiators too.

Do a Google search, you should be able to find a Mitsu parts trader. The
trader for the DSM cars, www.dsmtrader.com that I deal with has radiators
for $40~$50 most of the time.
$450.00 is absolutely insane. A new Fluidyne is $350 and it's a million
    times better than O.E.M.
Don't use tap water and don't use Dexcool.

450 included installation, supposedly not so easy. But it does seem to
    be lot.

I've never replaced a radiator I wonder how hard it would be?

And that rad cleaner stuff should I forget that?

My only Mitsu experience is with the 1G and 2G Eclipse/Talon cars. On the
Eclipse, there are two brackets (12mm wrench) and two hose clamps to remove
and then the radiator lifts right out. Unplug the fans, and carry the thing
off. You need to transfer the fans to the replacement radiator but that just
eight bolts. (10mm wrench) Then back in it goes.
Vans can complicate things but on my car, it is a 15 minute job.
Your radiator has done well to survive so far. You've nothing to lose by
trying the cleaner beyond the product cost.
An antique radiator such as yours may have lost mass to electrolosys if the
fluid has not been maintained. My only reservation is how thin the core may
be after the crap is cleaned out with a caustic.
