NO,they will not fit without first massaging the inner and outer
wheelhouses for clearance...The question I have to ask is, why use two

The had a 3.88" BACKSPACE
mustang depot sells rims for these cars too - I think they have some
with 5" backspace on 9" wide rims that would fit your car without
tubbing it. www.mustangdepot.com

Thanks, I am looking at 17 x 9.5's and 17 x 8 for the fronts. Changed to 17's
after seeing a nice 65 with some team 3 17's. Is the backspacing on a stock 68
GT style rims 3.88 or 4.5.

3.88 as best I can remember (had a 68 many years ago, numbers are in one
of my notebooks about the car - 3.88 for steel, 4.38 for the slotted
steel wheels - think I got it from Ford).
