03 Grand Prix - FM Modulator hookup

Hello everyone. I have just purchased a cd changer/fm modulator for my
03GTGP and have a few questions.

Are there any problems with removing the radio and/or disconnecting
the battery? Even if I turn off theftlock or know my lock code?

The changer is the JVC CD/MP3 CH 1500RF and it comes with the standard
looking FM Modulator. The antenna hookups are the older kind (RCA
looking type). Best Buy tried to sell me two harnesses, one for the
antenna and another one. Is the antenna connection different than
standard (as I know it)? I would have purchased them just to be sure
    but they were out.

Thanks for the help! I hate to put in an FM Modulator but I love the
look of the stock CD Player.

I'll start by saying that since my specialty is in vintage car radios, I
can't tell you with any certainty what you have in your modern unit.

I would think that any security codes will be stored in memory, and the
radio can be removed and replaced in the same car with no problem -- but why
worry about this when the only thing that you need to remove is the antenna
    connector?

With only a few exceptions, virtually every car radio from 1932 to the
present uses a Motorola connector for the antenna. The exceptions are early
30's Packards and present-day Japanese cars -- and who knows if GM or others
haven't changed out in the past year or two? I'll assume that your JVC
modulator has a Motorola socket and Motorola plug. If your radio uses
Motorola connectors, it's a beautiful thing. If different, you may need
adapters -- which your audio dealer should be able to provide. Hmmmm . . .
    I wonder if they have a bayonet adapter for a 36 Packard . .?

New radios use a smaller Motorola plug. Thus the need for an adapter.
Don't know the specific of you car, but that is probably what your adapter
    were for.

Thanks for the info, I purchased the CD Changer and everything needed.
I'm still pacing around the fact that I hate FM Modulators but I dont
think I would ever replace the in-dash unless absolutely necessary.

Dont want to mess with the steering wheel buttons (I know you can get
an adapter to make it work with any stereo with a remote) also want to
keep everything 'red' and definately dont want to put in a spacer or
anything else in place of the standard larger radio.

I'm sure i'll decide one day - after all, I have all the parts now at
    least.. Thanks again!
